SEO, AEO & GEO

Search engines and AI answer engines match questions to content by meaning, then decide what to cite. Ranking still matters, but so does whether your pages answer the questions people and models ask, in a form they can retrieve. Vector 1 applies semantic modeling and experimentation to search: coverage gaps, split tests that can actually detect a lift, and measurement of AI citations and referral traffic.

What we do

  • Semantic content coverage with Meaning-Flow: which questions you can and can't be found for
  • SEO split testing on page groups, sized to detect real lifts
  • Organic traffic forecasting after AI Overviews
  • Answer and generative engine optimization: structure, schema and share of answer

Common questions

What is the difference between SEO, AEO and GEO?

SEO (search engine optimization) aims to rank pages in search results. AEO (answer engine optimization) aims to be the source of direct answers, such as featured snippets and AI Overviews. GEO (generative engine optimization) aims to be retrieved and cited by large language model assistants. All three depend on content that clearly answers the questions people ask.

How do you know if an SEO change worked?

Run a split test: change a template on a random half of similar pages, leave the other half alone, and compare each group's change in clicks against its own baseline. Organic traffic is noisy, so plan the number of pages and weeks with a power calculation before you start.
